A story known all over the world, the story of a wooden puppet who wanted to become a real child. A tale written by Carlo Lorenzini( known as “Collodi”) in 1881 and published in fascicles. Today, it is one of the most popular and most represented children’s books. Master Geppetto built the little wooden brat who always gets into trouble and risks being turned into a donkey. With the particular nose that gets longer every time he tells a lie. How many times our grandmothers have told us: “don’t tell lies or your nose will grow longer then Pinocchio’s”.
A Florence tour to discover Pinocchio
Walking through Florence your eyes will fall on the puppets of Pinocchio, the story is known around the world but few know that Carlo Collodi lives and writes right here in Florence in a building in Via Taddei that today shows a plaque to remember where the great classic book was born.
In 1962 in honor of Pinocchio was founded the park of Collodi, a wonderful adventure park that transports you into the fantastic world of the wooden marionette. You will meet the Blue Fairy, the Cat and the Fox, Geppetto and obviously Pinocchio.
