Accessible museums in Florence

Florence an open-air museum. The special characteristic is that you only have to walk through the streets of the Renaissance city to admire masterpieces of art from all centuries.

But Florence is also famous for some of the most beautiful museums in the whole world. Masterpieces by the greatest masters of history are preserved within the majestic walls of this City.

And it is right that museums also have routes for accessible tourism, so that everyone can enjoy the wonders of art.

  • Galleria degli Uffizi

    Built to host the "uffizi," the administrative and judicial offices of Florence, today the gallery hosts many of the most beautiful works of art from around the world

  • Il Museo dell'Opera di Firenze

    It collects 750 works created for the Santa Maria del Fiore complex by Arnolfo, Ghiberti, Donatello, Michelangelo and others

  • Galleria dell'Accademia

    Also known as " the Michelangelo Museum" it hosts inside one of the most famous masterpieces in the world. Michelangelo's David

  • Museo Nazionale del Bargello

    Built in 1255 it was the seat of the Capitano del Popolo of the Bargello ( the captain of the guards ) and it was a prison until 1859. Today it conserves masterpieces by Donatello, Michelangelo, Bernini

  • Museo del Novecento

    Dedicated to 20th-century art, it presents works illustrating Italian art of the first half of the 1900s

  • Cappelle Medicee

    The Crypt of the Medici and Lorraine Grand Dukes, The Funeral Monument to Cosimo il Vecchio. A monumental museum designed and conceived by Michelangelo

  • Museo degli Innnocenti

    Designed by Filippo Brunelleschi, it was created to expose the works of the ancient Spedale. Today it attests the history of the activities carried out in favor of orphaned children

Galleria degli Uffizi

ENTRANCE

The entrance is accessible from door N1 with a ramp located at the corner with Via della Nina. For visitors with wheelchairs wider than 60 cm, entrance N3 is reserved

ELEVATOR

Two elevators( 63 cm width) allow access to the gallery on the second floor and to the Drawings and Prints Cabinets on the second floor

CAFETERIA

The cafeteria on the second floor is accessible via independently operated stair lift. The museum is equipped with accessible restrooms

Museo dell'Opera di Firenze

ENTRANCE

Located at the back of the square, the Cathedral is completely accessible

ELEVATOR

Elevators connect to the three floors of the exhibition and to the viewing terrace. The museum is equipped with accessible restrooms

CAFETERIA

The cafeteria is on the side of the entrance and it is accessible on the level from both the museum's historic entrance and the sidewalk outside

Galleria dell' Accademia

ENTRANCE

The access to the academy and the ticket office is located at in via Ricasoli n. 60

ELEVATOR

The entire tour route is completely accessible. An elevator provides access to the second floor

RESTROOM

A equipped restroom is located on the ground floor near the elevator

Museo Nazionale del Bargello

ENTRANCE

The access to the museum is on the left side. The museum rooms are all accessible except for the Chapel and the Sacristy. The Michelangelo Hall is accessible from the bookshop.

ELEVATOR

The height differences are overcome by ramps (staff are at disposal) and elevator. Some thresholds have slight elevation. Exit is from the entrance

The equipped restroom is located on the second floor

Museo del Novecento

ENTRANCE

A ramp guarantees access to the Museum from the entrance on the left in the southern side of the Square, under the loggias of Saint Paul's Hospital

ELEVATOR

The museum is completely accessible except for the mezzanine floor. There are elevators and ramps.

RESTROOM

Equipped restrooms are located on the ground floor, second floor, and second floor

Cappelle Medicee

ENTRANCE

Accessible through sidewalk with moderate slope. The ground floor is accessible by ramp

ELEVATOR

The Chapel of the Princes, on the second floor, is accessible by elevator, and from there the New Sacristy is accessed by a platform-elevator. Elevator service has to be requested at the information point at the entrance

ENTRANCE

The museum is accessible from the main entrance located in the Piazza Santissima Annuziata

The entire route is completely accessible and there are elevators to go up to the floors
